Voice and AI

Reach people by voice, and put an AI agent on the line to hold real conversations.

Share article

Furcata covers more than text. You can reach people by voice message, and you can put an AI voice agent on the line to hold real conversations with callers.

Voice messages and robocalls

A voice campaign delivers a spoken message to a list of contacts. You can use it for time-sensitive announcements where a text would be missed — a school closure, a delivery window, a shift change.

Voice messages are billed by the minute rather than by the segment, which is a different unit from SMS. See the pricing page for current rates.

If a call is not answered, Furcata can leave a voicemail instead. Voicemails are transcribed automatically, so the reply lands in the same conversation view as your text messages and you can read it rather than listen to it.

AI voice agents

An AI voice agent answers inbound calls and holds a natural conversation. It can greet the caller, answer questions from a knowledge base you supply, collect structured answers, and transfer to a person when it should.

The agent speaks first. If the caller's preferred language is already known from their contact record, the agent greets them in that language. Otherwise it establishes the language from the caller's first reply and saves the preference for next time. A caller can ask to switch language at any point and the agent will switch immediately.

  • Voice — the persona the agent speaks with. Several voices are available across male, female and neutral characters.
  • Greeting — the exact words the agent opens with.
  • System instruction — how the agent should behave, in your own words.
  • Business knowledge base — the facts and notes the agent draws on to answer questions.
  • Interview questions — the structured questions you want answered on the call.
  • Business hours — the days and hours that count as open.
  • Transfer destinations — the numbers the agent may hand a caller to.
  • Maximum call duration — the point at which the call is wound down.

Interview questions turn a call into a structured intake. Each question is asked in order and the answers are captured in the call summary and conversation thread, which makes the agent useful for qualification, screening and simple surveys.

You can give the agent up to twenty transfer destinations. Each one carries a phone number, and optionally a language, an intent and a label, so the agent can decide where a caller belongs — a sales line, a support line, a specific department.

Business hours are expressed as a start hour, an end hour and the days that count as active. This tells the agent when your organisation is open, which it can use when deciding what to say or where to send a caller.

Every call has a maximum duration. The default is ten minutes. The caller is warned shortly before the limit is reached, and the call ends automatically when the limit is hit. You can raise or lower the limit to suit the kind of call you expect.

What the agent does on the phone

The agent can update the contact record during the call — for example saving a language preference or a name — so your data is fresher after the call than before it. Everything the agent does is bounded by what your Furcata role already allows.

AI in the message composer

AI is also available while you write. In the message composer you can ask for a suggested reply, apply your own standing instructions, or run a quick edit on a draft — adding emojis, checking grammar, shortening to fit a single segment, translating, or shifting the tone between friendly, formal and informal.

These helpers act on the message in front of you. They do not send anything on their own.

Where AI configuration lives

AI voice agents and the AI features in the app are configured inside the Furcata app. They are not part of the public REST API, so you will not find endpoints for them in the API reference.

Review before you go live

Test an agent with your own number before you point a public number at it. Listen to how it handles an interruption, a language switch and a request to speak to a person.
