Access in Furcata comes in two layers: roles that apply across the platform, and roles that apply within a single account. A person can hold both, and the account-scoped role is what decides what they can do to that account.
Platform roles
- User — a standard account holder.
- Sender — access to sending.
- Sender VIP — sending access with the VIP treatment applied to their numbers.
- Admin — administrative access.
- Agency — access that spans the accounts an agency manages.
Account roles
- Owner — full control of the account, including its numbers.
- Admin — administrative control of the account.
- Client — a client of the account.
- Agent — someone who works conversations.
- Guest — the most limited level of access.
Add a user
Open Users
Open the account and go to Users to see everyone who currently has access.
Add the person
Use Add User and complete the user form with their email, phone number and name. The person is added with the standard user role.
Export if you need to
Use Download CSV to export the users currently shown, which is useful for access reviews.
Where roles are checked
Some screens are limited by role rather than being visible to everyone. The Phone Numbers page, for example, is restricted to owners and admins, as is acquiring a new number. Roles are also combined with the account they apply to, so the same person can be an admin of one account and a guest in another.
Roles gate screens, not just buttons
When a screen is restricted, people without the role do not reach it at all rather than seeing a disabled version. If someone cannot find a page you expect them to have, their role on that account is the first thing to check.
The account is the boundary
A person holding a platform role does not automatically get access to every account. Access is granted per account, so adding someone to the platform and adding them to your account are separate actions.
