Sending messages

Send SMS, MMS, WhatsApp and voice messages from a service.

Furcata sends through several channels. The channel is a property of the message, so the same campaign can mix text, media and voice where the content suits it.

Channels

  • SMS — a plain text message.
  • MMS — a text message with media attached.
  • WhatsApp — a message delivered over WhatsApp.
  • Call — a phone call or robocall, including voice and voicemail.

Adding media to a template is what makes it an MMS rather than an SMS, and it also raises the number of units the message may use.

Configure the campaign

  1. Name the service

Give the service a name so you can tell it apart from your other campaigns.

  2. Set the location

Choose the place the campaign is centred on.

  3. Choose a frequency

Pick once for a single send, date for a scheduled send, or daily for a recurring one.

  4. Choose the audience

Select the contacts the service targets and the language their messages are written in. The templates you select must be written in the same language as the contacts.

  5. Set the window and limit

Give the service a start time and an end time, and set a send limit. The end time must be more than 23 hours after the start time. The limit caps how many messages a run may send and is only valid when it is at least 1.

  6. Activate the service

Save the service and set it running when you are ready for the campaign to go out.

How the limit is counted

  • For a daily service, the limit is the number of messages allowed per day.
  • For a once service, the limit is the total number of messages for that single run.

The sending queue

Once a service is running, its messages move through a queue. The service shows how many messages are waiting, how many are ready to send, how many are being sent, and the throughput the account is configured for.

Compliance headers

Accounts can be configured to prepend a compliance identification header to every bulk or test message. If your organisation supplies its own header or footer, that automatic header is turned off. It does not apply to transactional messages.

Recipients can stop a campaign

A contact who has unsubscribed cannot be messaged. Outbound compliance text tells recipients how to opt out, so the reach of a campaign can shrink while it is running.
